Reflection for the Third Week of Advent
Gaudete in Domino Semper!
— Rejoice in the Lord always; Again I say rejoice! The Lord is near! (Phil 4:4-5)!
The Third Sunday of Advent is traditionally called “GAUDETTE SUNDAY” from the Latin word meaning to “rejoice”. The purple colour of penance is lightened to a rose colour on this Sunday . The Third Sunday of Advent, as on Laetare Sunday during Lent, is designed to encourage us to continue our prayer and fasting, because we can see that Advent is more than halfway over. We can rejoice because our salvation is nearer! The time of Advent waiting is nearly over, as the celebration of the birth of Christ draws near!
2013 offertory envelopes are ready for pick-up at the back of the church!
If you are a new member of our parish, and have taken a numbered, unlabelled offertory box of envelopes, please follow a few steps to ensure that your donations will be properly recorded in 2013!
Please print your full name, address, and phone number on the offertory envelope, when making your first 3-4, 2013, donations. This will ensure that the office staff correctly record your personal information, (to ensure you receive an income tax receipt at the end of the year.)
If you want to start your donations this year (2012), please place your donation in a regular envelope, and print your full name, address and envelope number on it! (Please do not use your 2013 offertory envelopes until next year!)
New envelope users/parishioners and/or unregistered parishioners are requested to fill out a Parish Registration Form and return it.
Time to Update Our Records!
Have you moved, or are you planning to move soon?
Please let the office know to ensure that your income tax receipt gets to you!
Has the status of someone you placed on our ‘pray for the sick’ list changed?
Please let the office know.
If you have any information concerning your family members, who are parishioners here, that you feel the office should be made aware of, (such as a move to a LTC Home, death, etc.), please let the office know.
PAG – PRE-AUTHORIZED GIVING
We thank you for supporting St. Cecilia’s Parish! It is only through your kind and generous support that we are able to continue with our mission. PAG is an efficient way to support our parish through electronic banking. Pre-authorized giving forms are available from the parish office, and, shortly, on our website!
Christmas Cards and Cakes!
As in previous years, during the months preceding the great ‘Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord’, Right to Life Christmas Cards and Campaign Life fruitcakes will be on sale in the vestibule after Saturday and Sunday Masses starting November 18th. One of the most important fundraisers Campaign Life Catholic does each year, is the sale of the delicious Christmas cakes. This helps to continue the work for the unborn, the elderly and the disabled, supporting life at every stage.
- Large cakes $24.00
- Small cakes $16.00
- Cards $8/10 pk.
2013 SUNDAY MISSALS
New Missals for the coming Liturgical Year are now on sale after all Masses. The cost is only $5.00 each.
Could God be calling you to be a priest or religious and announce the Good News to His People as John the Baptist did?
