Friar’s Student Writing Award 2017

Win great prizes!

Students aged 14 to 18 are invited to write a 500-word essay on the theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, celebrated January 18-25 2017. The Theme for this coming year is “Reconciliation – The love of Christ compels us” (cf. 2. Corinthians 5:14-20) Students should read the above scripture passage and respond to the following statement in the essay:

As the Christian world reflects on the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation (1517-2017) and after reading Corinthians 5:14-20, discuss the main obstacles to Christian reconciliation and ways to overcome them based on your own experiences.

First prize is an iPad Air 2 (64 GB), second prize is a Kobo Aura H2O, and third to sixth prizes are a one-year subscription to The Catholic Register and other prizes.

Essays will be edited and published in The Catholic Register. Deadline for entries is January 13 2017. Christmas Cards and Cakes

As in previous years, during the months preceding the great “Feast of the Nativity of our Lord”, Right to Life Christmas Cards and Campaign for Life fruitcakes will be on sale in the vestibule after Saturday and Sunday Masses until December 18th. One of the most important fundraisers Campaign Life Catholic does each year, is the sale of the delicious Christmas cakes. This helps to continue the work for the unborn, the elderly and the disabled, supporting life at every stage.

2017 offertory envelopes

 2017 offertory envelopes are ready for pick-up at the back of the church!

If you are a new member of our parish, and have taken a numbered, unlabeled offertory box of envelopes, please follow a few steps to ensure that your donations will be properly recorded in 2017!

Please print your full name, address, and phone number  on the offertory envelope, when making your first 3-4, 2017, donations. This will ensure that the office staff correctly record your personal information, (to ensure you receive an income tax receipt at the end of the year.)

If you want to start your donations this year (2016), please place your donation in a regular envelope, and print your full name, address and envelope number on it! (Please do not use your 2017 offertory envelopes until next year!)

New envelope users/parishioners and/or unregistered parishioners are requested to fill out a Parish Registration Form and return it.
