Create a Climate of Change
Our Church knows that climate change is an issue of justice!
Pope Francis reminds us of our responsibility to act in his encyclical Laudato Si: “The pace of consumption, waste and environmental change has so stretched the planet’s capacity that our contemporary lifestyle, unsustainable as it is, can only precipitate catastrophes…The effects of this imbalance can only be reduced by our decisive action, here and now!” There are many ways in which you can contribute to reducing carbon emissions. Even small changes in your everyday life can make a big difference! The Cardinal has asked all parishes to participate in a national weekend of Action on October 31/November 1 together with Development and Peace to Create a Climate of Change. Next week you will be asked to sign an Action Card to the government. On the card, you can also share with the Prime Minister your own personal action to help reduce climate change. The survival of our planet and it people is at stake! An informational pamphlet is enclosed with this bulletin.

Recent gerontology research has revealed the under-developed potentials in our maturing years (50+). Of these, spirituality (inner growth) has been identified as an underdeveloped resource. In fact, maturing years have the possibility of being a time of unparalleled inner growth. This presentation will deal with this potential and its implications for ethical decision making in our later years.
