ASH WEDNESDAY

Wednesday 18th February 2015

Morning English Mass: 9:05 AM
Evening Bilingual Mass: 6:30 AM
Distribution of Ashes

This is a universal day of fasting and of abstinence from meat.  The law of abstinence from meat binds those who are 14 and older; the law of fasting binds those from 18 to 59 years of age.  Parents and educators are reminded of their duty to introduce children gradually to the understanding and practice of penance.

Working wonders in our community…

We are called to care for those who are vulnerable on our community.  The ShareLife parish campaign gives us an opportunity to reach out in justice and love.  Last year, ShareLife’s 42 agencies and grant recipients provided over 381,000 services to over 114,000 people here in our archdiocese, and assisted countless others in developing countries around the world.  In 42 municipalities, and in more than 20 languages, those in need received support and care as a result of our generosity.  My prayer is that you will join me as together we work wonders to lovingly care for those  who are in need around us. – Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto

First ShareLife Sunday – March 1, 2015

Please give generously. You can work wonders!

A Journey in Lent for Busy People

Discover how this Lenten Season can be for you an opportunity to make better connections between faith and work.

Do you find it difficult to make time for God in a busy work life? Do you sometimes wonder how to make better connections between your work and your life of faith? Sister Gabrielle invites you to join a program during Lent to explore how you can make time for God in your busy life, and especially in a busy work life.  Sr. Gabrielle is an engineer and she works as a professional.  She tries to balance her work and her  life in community, with her life of prayer.  Her experience leads her to reflect on how she practically makes connections between work and faith.  She will glad to draw from her experience and offer reflections to help you find your own path.  The program runs each Thursday in Lent from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM starting on Thursday February 26 2015.  All are welcome especially (but not limited to) young between the ages of 20 and 40.  The first meeting will take place on Thursday February 26 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at St. Joan of Arc Parish.  If you would like more details on the program, please contact Sr. Gabrielle by email at gabrielle.feuvrier@xavieres.org or the parish office: Rosanne Kelly at parish@joanofarc.ca .
